Servo Timer II now available

Well it has taken a lot of procrastination but the timers are finally finished. :) You can use the timers for parachute deployment, staging, pointing a camera etc. The full details and user manual are available here:

They are now available for purchase including FREE world wide delivery. All you need is an RC servo motor and a battery, and a rocket or two of course. These timers weigh around 6 grams and are small enough to fit inside of T8 FTC rockets.

We've done around 20 flights with these now and are quite happy with the results.

What sort of troubles were you having with your RC system? Was it a mechanical or an electrical problem?

Hey George,

Im not 100% sure but in every scenario it would work every time on the ground even at great distance then once in the air would fail to respond. It was not a connection problem with any of the wires onboard so im not sure.

Perhaps it may be interference? Once it's up in the air there are more interference sources "visible" to the receiver? Though that sounds unlikely. Is there anything on the rocket that could be shielding the transmitter from the bottom?

What receiver/trnamitters combination are you using? And at what frequency?

Have you considered that your rocket may be going so fast it's creating a plasma shield and it can't receive the signal in the same way spacecraft can't communicate properly during re-entry?.. :):):)

Hey George,

I wish i could make it travel that fast :) the only thing close that could really have an effect is lots of housing. They all have sky satilite tv.

Im using a Futaba T4EXA its at 35.170mHz. The receiver is a Futaba R114F.

No other electrical equipment is carried onboard and no metalic items other than the brass tube used in the robinson couplings.
